Voters have grown accustomed to candidates making empty promises when it comes to efforts to grow the economy.  Many elected officials are well-intentioned, but few have the breadth of education and experience that Michael has to make good on his promises with common sense ideas and a result-driven focus. Michael has a proven record of supporting job creation and economic development in the community.Michael graduated with a triple major in Economics, Sociology and Computer Applications from the University of Notre Dame. He received his Juris Doctor from Loyola University – Chicago. Since returning to Fort Wayne in 2004, Michael has demonstrated a commitment to furthering economic development efforts throughout the region. The following is a list of some of these efforts.

  • Michael’s service on the Board of Directors for the Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne provides significant opportunities to be involved in important initiatives for economic growth. As a member of Community Partnerships, Inc. Michael helps oversee the Talent Initiative and the Big Goal Collaborative promoting the development of a stronger workforce. Through Summit Initiatives Foundation he helps support private sector investment in at-risk properties to promote urban renewal.
  • Michael is a past President of the Young Leaders of Northeast Indiana. During his service with YLNI, Michael oversaw the successful 2020 Vision initiative, chaired the My City Summit and helped organize numerous programs helping attract and retain young leaders to the community.
  • The ability to provide a strong infrastructure is critical for all new business development efforts. Michael serves on the Economic Development Committee for the Building Contractors Association of Northeast Indiana and has helped the community streamline its permitting process while serving on the Joint Permitting Oversight Committee for Allen County and City of Fort Wayne.
  • Michael was elected as the youngest Director of the Greater Fort Wayne Chamber of Commerce. Throughout his four years on the Board, Michael has served on the Legislative Policy Committee and chaired the Board Governance and Development Committee. He also serves as a Trustee for the Chamber.
  • A supporter of the Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership, Michael has actively participated on its Leadership Committee and the Regional Permitting Task Force for the Regional Opportunities Council.
  • As a member of the Regional Chamber of Northeast Indiana‘s Policy Committee, Michael has helped developed the legislative agenda for the Regional Chamber since its inception, helping promote an environment in which Northeast Indiana businesses, individuals and communities can thrive in a global economy.
  • Through his service on the Board of the Olive B. Cole Foundation, Michael has helped oversee hundreds of thousands of dollars in grant making for economic development initiatives throughout Northeast Indiana.

Whether it has been through the public, private or non-profit sectors, Michael has demonstrated a commitment to help further economic development in the community. He wants to bring that commitment to the Indiana Statehouse – and help make Northeast Indiana better.
